With a goal of developing a campus ecosystem of balance and influence, Here is Kumaraguru Microcosm - an eco-sensitive endeavour to establish a coexisting, inclusive, and sustainable environment for a quality of life for humans and all other living partners. In order to build a significant eco-future, Microcosm is a multi-year programme that carries out environmental sustainability projects. By 2024, the 40th year of KCT, this programme hopes to create a sustainable ecology and continue to demonstrate acts of sustainability because sustainability is omnipotent. Where one of the major initiative being “The Ahimsa Vanam”.
Ahimsa Vanam, a serene forest garden that was designed to serve as a multifunctional landscape to improve urban resilience, was created by Kumaraguru Institutions under the auspices of Kumaraguru Microcosm to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth. According to Mahatma, who was a fervent proponent of interdependent living and held a deep respect for environment, the Vanam aims to provide a place of reflection and inspiration for thousands of children and teachers. Ahimsa Vanam, a carefully cultivated forest that spans less than an acre of microcosmic space and supports 150 types of flora, including blooming and fruit trees, bushes, vines, and medicinal herbs, will eventually attract a variety of smaller birds.

Main purpose is to Reduce the per-capita carbon footprint of the campus by 40% in 2030.In the use of solar energy,KCT has installed 250 kW Solar Power Station as a green energy initiative. Initially 50kW solar power station was installed on B-Block roof top (5000 Sq feet) and is operational since October 15th, 2016. Adding to it another 200 kW Solar Power station has been Installed on C and E blocks. The total Investment cost accounts to 1.5 Crore. The inverter in solar power station uses the advanced SVPWM technique with MLI. This project will result in KCT EB bill savings of Rs. 35 Lakhs per annum with a payback period of 4 years.
Harvesting structures and recharge wells have been commissioned in the campus at different locations. This would percolate a minimum of 85,000 litres of water in an hour of moderate rain. We also have two percolation ponds that ensure no water that falls in our active campus is left unharvested. Percolation Pond: On 2nd October 2019, our students volunteered in creating a new percolation pong in our campus which got filled up with good monsoon rains.
Key aspects of the solid waste management process in our campus are
Collection of waste : comprises of primary collection point and secondary collection point.
Transportation of waste: This transportation fleet involves tractor and battery operated vehicles.
Segregation of waste categorises into Paper and Boards (Various Forms),Plastic (Various FForms, E Waste, Organic Waste etc, Disposal of waste comprises of recycling , composting and incinaration

On 25th June, students sustainability sensitization programme was conducted for the freshers of kumaraguru college of Liberal arts and science. For this event one of the apex members of siruthuli Mrs. Sangeetha subash came to speak about the best practices to adopt Eco-conscious lifestyle in kumaraguru campus. She shared a few words about the history of ‘’Siruthuli ‘’. She also gave a brief explanation as to how we should consume water for future purposes and why is tree plantation important.
This policy sets forth a set of guidelines to reduce the number of papers that are being used by the students for Assignments, Mini-Projects and Final Year Projects. This is to reduce the 60% usage of paper as a commitment to curb the environmental damage. Click Here to read the policy

Pedestrian friendly pathway is one of the initiatives by Kumaraguru Institutions. We have a pathway along both sides of the road. Pedestrian pathway of 10 feet(appx) width is constructed. It serves as a pathway for everyone who does nature walk inside the campus.
